Terms of service

1. Agreement

These terms are an agreement between you and MCP Vetted (“we”, “us”). They cover the website, the MCP server, the REST and registry APIs, trust badges and any related service (together, the “Service”). By using the Service, directly or through an AI agent acting for you, you agree to these terms, our Privacy policy and our Acceptable use policy.

If you use the Service for an organization, you confirm you can bind it to these terms. Publishers who claim tools or buy publisher sync also agree to the Publisher terms.

2. What the Service is

MCP Vetted is an index of software tools for AI agents, starting with MCP servers. We find tools automatically, run automated checks on each version, assign a trust tier, and produce install instructions for supported apps.

We don't make, sell or host the tools we index, except where a page says otherwise. Each tool is provided by its own publisher under its own license and terms.

3. Trust tiers are evidence, not a guarantee

A tier states which of our checks a specific version passed, and when. It is not a certification, warranty or endorsement. Automated checks can miss things, publishers can change a tool after a check, and a tool can behave differently in your environment.

You decide what to install and what access to grant. Review the access shown for each tool, keep your apps' confirmation prompts on, and apply your own security policies. See How we check for what each check covers and what it doesn't.

Tiers and rankings are set by checks and outcomes only. Nobody can pay us to change a tier or a rank.

4. Accounts

You don't need an account to search, read trust pages or use the MCP server and API within the free limits. Publishers sign in with GitHub or Google to claim tools and manage sync. You're responsible for activity under your account and API keys; tell us promptly at security@mcpvetted.com if you think either is compromised.

5. Using the API and MCP server

You may call the Service from your own software and agents, and cache responses for up to 24 hours. Respect the rate limits in each response's headers. For higher limits, use an API key. Don't resell raw access to the index or present our data as your own trust ratings without attribution and a link to the trust page.

Badges and trust pages may be linked and embedded freely.

6. Submissions and reports

When you submit a tool, report an outcome or send feedback, you give us a worldwide, royalty-free license to use it to operate and improve the Service. Only submit addresses you're allowed to share. Submissions go through the same checks as everything else and never skip them.

7. Paid features

Some features, such as publisher sync, cost money. Prices, billing periods and what's included are shown before you pay. Subscriptions renew until canceled; you can cancel any time from your dashboard and keep access until the end of the paid period. Payments are processed by Stripe. Except where the law requires otherwise, fees already paid aren't refundable, but if we can't deliver something you paid for we'll refund that part.

8. Our content and yours

We own the Service, our software, our trust data compilation and our brand. Tool names, descriptions and code belong to their publishers; we show publisher-written text as-is and label it as theirs. If you believe something on the Service infringes your rights, email legal@mcpvetted.com.

9. Third-party tools and links

Installing a tool connects you to its publisher, not to us. Their terms and privacy practices apply to that tool. We aren't responsible for third-party tools, sites or services, including what they do with access you grant them.

10. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE AND ALL TRUST DATA ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE”, WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT AND ACCURACY. WE DON'T WARRANT THAT ANY TOOL IS SAFE, THAT OUR CHECKS WILL CATCH EVERY PROBLEM, OR THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED.

11. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE WON'T BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST PROFITS, DATA OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM THE SERVICE OR ANY TOOL YOU INSTALL. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM IS LIMITED TO THE GREATER OF THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM OR US$100.

12. Indemnity

You'll defend and indemnify us against third-party claims arising from your misuse of the Service, your breach of these terms, or content you submit.

13. Suspension and termination

You can stop using the Service any time. We may suspend or end access that breaks these terms or the Acceptable use policy, or that puts the Service or others at risk. Sections 3, 8 and 10 through 15 survive termination.

14. Changes

We may update these terms. For material changes we'll post a notice on the site and, if you have an account, email you at least 14 days before they apply. The date at the top shows the latest version. Continuing to use the Service after changes apply means you accept them.

15. Governing law and contact

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Disputes go to the state or federal courts located there, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring them locally.
